(Paris, ON) The end of January saw a new corporate sponsor bring funds to the Twin Pad Capital Campaign. Todd Wood and Matt Cummings of Cobblestone Pub held a fund–raising weekend on January 29, 30 and 31. The event was well-attended and. Wood and Cummings donated 20% of their sales to the campaign resulting in a $4,000 donation. Todd and Matt have decided to match that donation and more, over the next 4 years, for a total of $20,000.
Honorary Campaign co-chair Jay Wells attended all three days of the event and acknowledged that "This was a great event. It was a nice gesture on Todd's and Matt's part to get behind the Twin Pad Campaign". Jay, an 18 year NHL veteran and Stanley Cup Champion, went on to say "A lot of people took advantage of the opportunity to come out and have a bite and know that a portion of what they spent was going to the fundraising". Walter Gretzky, the other Honorary co-chair added his congratulations to everyone involved in the event when he attended on Sunday, January 31.
The Cobblestone public house opened its doors to the public on April 6th 2008 and has strived from day one to provide an unforgettable pub experience. Taking great pride in the food they serve and the service they provide, it quickly became exactly what the two owners had envisioned; a comfortable, fun place to be. Whether you go for beer and wings, steak and wine, a beer while watching the game or a late night snack, they have it covered with the same quality of food and service at one o'clock in the morning as there is at one o'clock in the afternoon.
When asked why he and his partner chose this campaign to support, Wood answered, "We have had tremendous support from this community. This is one way for us to give our support back to the community".
During the weekend, an actual seat from the new complex was on hand in Cobblestone Pub, to support the seat sale fund-raising portion of the campaign. On November 23, 2009, the Twin Pad Complex Capital Campaign for the County of Brant launched its "Great Seat Event" that invited the public to purchase a seat in the arena. The Cobblestone event highlighted the fact that patrons can purchase one of the 650 seats available in the two ice pads for a donation of $500. The purchased seat will be identified with an engraved commemorative plaque. The donation can be made in the form of a pledge and paid over a three year period.
