(Paris, ON) On behalf of the Brant County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Inspector Dave Durant presented a cheque in the amount of $5,000 to the Twin Pad Complex capital campaign.
The O.P.P. membership fully supports the Twin Pad project and our team looks forward to playing in the arena when it is finished," said Inspector Durant. "As police officers we rarely see kids who participate in sports getting in to trouble."
On accepting the donation, Councillor Murray Powell said, "It's great that the Brant Detachment has stepped forward to support the arena. They are well-known for taking the time to reach out to the community and this is a win-win for everyone."
The money was raised from the membership through the O.P.P. Friendship Golf Tournament.
Mayor Ron Eddy added his thanks and said, "We are proud of our O.P.P. and your support of the Twin Pad is truly wonderful."
Construction on the Twin Pad Complex began in August and the anticipated completion date is the fall 2010. This barrier-free building will have two NHL regulation sized rinks, seating for approximately 335 for each rink, 12 dressing rooms with two that are fully accessible, two separate entrances, a large community room, two additional multi-purpose rooms and 300 parking spaces. It will be located at 944 Powerline Road at Rest Acres Road with easy access from Highway 403.
There are many opportunities for the community to become involved in the Twin Pad Complex Capital Campaign. For more information visit www.twinpad.brant.ca.
