Twin Pad Complex - Capital Campaign

Your generous support will help to make a difference by building this exciting community gathering place for you, your children, your grandchildren and your neighbours.

  • The Twin Pad Complex will play a key role in the County of Brant offering a contemporary, year-round facility for ice and other recreational and community purposes
  • Located at the southern gateway to Paris, just off Highway 403 at Powerline and Rest Acres Road, it will offer convenient access to everyone
  • The new Twin Pad Complex will replace the Syl Apps Community Centre, built in Paris, Ontario in 1922, and is the oldest arena in Canada, and one of the oldest operating arenas in the world.
  • This modern Twin Pad Complex will entice everyone in the County of Brant to:
    • become more physically active
    • gather to watch local sports, to meet friends
    • celebrate business and social occasions together
  • The Twin Pad Complex is a two storey facility with almost 85,000 square feet of space
  • The time has come to build a new local arena and community space in the County of Brant that is open, accessible and inviting to everyone
  • The new Twin Pad Complex will allow the County of Brant to:
  • Opening in the Fall of 2010, this $23 million initiative will be supported by a $3.5 million capital campaign

Meeting Community Needs

  • Promote health at each age and stage of life, focusing first on children and youth.
  • Remove barriers to healthy active living so that County of Brant residents have greater opportunities to enjoy good health and the benefits of recreation.
  • Support the development of athletes.
  • Offer an additional ice surface that will expand existing programs and attract new user groups.
  • Benefit the County of Brant’s economy by hosting team competitions and tournaments.

 * Development charges are funds to be recovered from future growth and are paid by the developer.

** There are many options to generate this amount.  Options include:

  1. Exceeding the Capital Campaign fundraising goal of $3,500,000.
  2. The County of Brant securing a loan to be repaid in future years.
  3. Review by Council during the annual budget process for the financing of capital projects.
  4. Adding it to the property tax bill.  Estimated annual cost per average household unit at this time would be $14.25, however many factors can affect this amount.
